The workshop will consist of actual case studies to look at the technology first-hand. The workshop will address several aspects of utilizing woody biomass for the production of renewable energy including:

• a national overview on the current utilization of wood biomass
• using GIS and satellite imagery to locate and quantify woody biomass
• moving woody biomass out of the forest and converting it into forms for delivery to processing facilities
• using specialized equipment for harvesting forest residue
• converting woody biomass into chips for co-firing with coal at power plants
• using a mobile unit for producing energy using woody biomass
