NREL, ConocoPhillips, Iowa State to Cooperate on Biofuels Research
The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) announced today a partnership with ConocoPhillips and Iowa State University. The partnership focuses on the development of cellulosic ethanol with the goal of identifying "the most efficient and cost-effective methods
for making liquid transportation fuels from plants." "Research cooperation among government, industry and academia is needed
to efficiently address the many questions about how to find the best
ways to convert biomass to liquid transportation fuels," said Tom
Foust, technology manager for NREL's National Bioenergy Center. An initial report is expected in January 2009. The full press release can be found here.
